John Armstrong Yao Klinogo was the Founding Partner of our firm and a pioneering figure in Ghana’s accounting profession. A former Country Senior Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) until April 2002, Mr. Klinogo played an instrumental role in shaping the regional presence and reputation of PwC across West and Southern Africa.
Mr. Klinogo brought over four decades of multidisciplinary expertise spanning audit, tax, management consulting, project evaluation, and financial advisory. His professional journey took him through leading institutions including KPMG, Deloitte, Coopers & Lybrand, Price Waterhouse, and PwC—where he led complex, high-value engagements for clients in financial services, industry, and government.
His career began in education, having trained as a Certificate A teacher and later graduating from the University of Ghana Business School. He went on to serve briefly with the Ghana Armed Forces Pay Office before transitioning fully into professional accounting. He held senior roles at R.T. Briscoe, John Holt Bartholomew, and GIHOC, before moving into global consultancy practice.
Mr. Klinogo’s audit and advisory work spanned multiple countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Eswatini, and other West and Southern African nations. His leadership in financial services saw him oversee audits and strategic reviews for institutions such as Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays Bank, Swazi Bank, Capital Insurance, Petra Advantage Fund, and several Databank-managed funds.
He was a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, and a member of the Institute of Accountants in Eswatini. As former President of ICAG, he championed higher professional standards, regulatory development, and capacity building, mentoring a generation of Ghanaian accounting professionals.
Beyond consultancy, Mr. Klinogo made significant contributions to national development through board and advisory roles. He served on the boards of the Ghana Audit Service, Ghana National Gas Company, the University of Ghana Council, National Accreditation Board, Ghana Prisons Service, and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. He also chaired finance and governance committees at the University of Health and Allied Sciences and the Judicial Service Council.
Mr. Klinogo’s unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and service continues to guide our firm’s mission and values. His legacy is deeply embedded in our culture and professional standards, and we remain committed to honouring his vision through every engagement we undertake.
